Jacob is Brian Winograd's oldest son. He grew up in the shop from a young boy. Jacob loved helping Dad at the shop as a kid clean out the parts washers and get dirty as a little boy should. In High School, Jacob showed an interest in joining the family business and was groomed very hard by Brian. I was very hard on him.....I didn't let him work on or touch a car for at least 6 months. I wanted to see how strong he wanted it and also to show my seasoned guys that there would be no favoritism. I made him clean both bathrooms every day, sweep the floors, keep inventory in order, clean out parts tanks, and take the trash out. I made him cut grass and pull weeds, paint, anything but work on cars. The summer after his junior year of high school near the end of the season I told him to pull a car inside and thus began his training. His senior year of high school he went to Harrisburg Area Community College program called the Advanced Skill Center for Automotive training where Jacob graduated with his State inspection and Emissions license, OSHA certifications, and ALLDATA certification. Jacob went on to apprentice at different shops around York County like Glens Auto, Jims Auto Repair, Fadely Automasters, Beasley Ford and finally Broadway Transmission. It's an honor to work with my son and see the wonderful man he has turned into. In 2013 his younger brother Isaac was hurt in a football game where as the result of the injury he was paralyzed completely on his left side for 10.5 months. Six months into Isaacs treatment my father was diagnosed with AML leukemia. I was taking care of my son in Pennsylvania and my father in Baltimore and Jacob was thrown into running the entire shop on his own with just me helping by cell phone. This trial by fire has quickly taught Jacob a lot more than any other 23 year old would know at the same time in life and I trust him now completely with all shop operations in my absence. Jacob continues his training in our industry through ATRA (Automatic Transmission Rebuilder Association) and ATSG (Automatic Transmission Service Group). Jacob just celebrated his one year wedding anniversary and also became a father for the first time giving Brian his first grandchild.

Brian Winograd

Broadway's self-proclaimed good looking genius grew up in the auto industry, seeing its many facets from new car sales, to finance, to parts to repair and finally to transmissions. Brian was elected to be President of the Alliance of Automotive Service Providers of Pennsylvania (AASP-PA) by his peers in York and Adams counties for five straight years. He is ATSG, ATRA and Steve Younger trained for both the technical and management sides of the auto transmission industry. He has done consulting work for other shops since 1993, and he has also been used as an insurance adjustor and special witness as an expert in automotive matters in York County, PA courts. Brian does things, not from a traditional business model, but through relationships.

He is also the founder of In His Service Ministries. He has pioneered churches, schools, and orphanages and has spoken in churches in many states. He has plans to do ministry in Africa, Italy, and England in the upcoming years.

Even with all that, Brian is still an everyday kind of guy and enjoys a good laugh. So he enjoys coming into the shop most days to see Jacob and Ray as they are the source of so much fun and laughter.

“My job is to make sure there is work here and that the guys have everything they need to get the work done in a timely and professional manner, “ Brian explains. “We are the only local shop giving a standard 3-year/100,000 mile warranty on all our major work, and that is because I am really picky with the work that we do. Yes, I want to have fun when I work and have created a great work environment; but the bottom line is that the end product has to be good. So far, our reputation is of that quality!”

Isaac is Brian's youngest but definitely not the smallest. At 6'3" and 317 lbs at age 17 with size 16 shoes he is our gentle giant. Like Jacob his older brother Isaac has grown up at Broadway. And Isaac went through the same tough standards as Jacob not being able to work on cars till he proved himself at cleaning, and taking care of the property. Brian home schools Isaac so he has four hours to work at Broadway during the school year and works all Summer full time. Isaac is far beyond his age as far as experience removing and installing transmissions and has the best natural mechanical ability of all the Winograd's. Isaac is also a great bass player and vocalist and is in a band called "The Fortunate Ones" which plays Woodstock-era rock n roll. It is Brian's hope one day to open another shop and with his sons the future is bright!

Jim Ison

Jim Ison

Jim is our “everything guy” who keeps it all going. Need to get a part delivered? Call Jim. Need a transmission picked up from out of state or a torque converter for that last minute job picked up in Leola, PA before noon? Call Jim. He keeps our shop looking neat and clean – or as well as you would expect a transmission shop to look. He keeps all the orders and returns flowing. Perhaps most importantly, he keeps the porcelain throne clean for the other guys.

Ann Winograd

Ann Winograd

Ann Winograd is the love of Brian's life as well as his waitress at Lions Pride Restaurant for the last 22 years. She helps keep the office neat and papers filled which is a real weakness for the Winograd men. Brian jokingly calls her Mrs. Wiggins from the Carol Burnett show of which Ann tried to recreate in the picture.
